IMPACT Nepal works to prevent needless disability in some of the poorest and most remote communities of Nepal.

IMPACT Nepal is a leading light in the prevention and treatment of hearing loss. Deafness and hearing impairment are the biggest causes of disability in Nepal, affecting almost one-fifth of the population above the age of 5 years.

Programmes include:

The IMPACT Nepal team has established a network of Primary Ear Care Centres, which treat around 78,000 people per year for ear disease and hearing loss.

They also serve as bases for thriving community outreach programme to promote ear health. IMPACT Nepal’s Hearing Aid Centre and Orthotic and Prosthetic Centre make assistive devices for disabled people.

Other IMPACT Nepal initiatives include:

  • A community health programme in Rautahat, which encompasses home gardening; maternal healthcare; immunisation and improving access to safe water and sanitation.
  • IMPACT Nepal also continues to support communities in Bhotechaur as they recover from the 2015 earthquake.
