We are proud to share that the work of IMPACT Bangladesh’s Proshanti Project – facilitated by the Dak Foundation – has been published in the prestigious International Urogynaecology Journal. The project provides free surgical repair to women living with pelvic organ prolapse – a distressing and stigmatising condition that can result from injury during childbirth in low-resource settings. It is also associated with aging but women living in poverty too often go untreated. Thanks to Dr Barbara Hall, a retired Gynaecologist from Brisbane, and a local team led by Dr Maqsudul Islam, Bangladeshi gynaecologists are trained in advanced operating techniques, and nurses in the specialist care that promotes healing and can prevent future relapse: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s00192-020-04562-4
