Handwashing is one of the most effective actions to reduce the spread of pathogens and prevent infections, including the Coronavirus and we have increased our efforts to raise awareness of hygiene practices and sanitation across all our project areas.

For example, in Zanzibar, handwashing posters are being displayed at all our community water wells; in Bangladesh, we are installing additional handwashing stations in community areas and at the entrance to all our health facilities; in Tanzania our local partner, Kivulini Maternity hospital, has also ramped up already high hygiene measures by increasing handwashing areas; and in Cambodia and India, hand soap and sanitisers have been distributed in bulk to remote rural clinics.

IMPACT’s emergency food packages (that are being distributed to support people whose livelihoods have been affected by Coronavirus restrictions) also include handsoap.
